Mildred Vivian Ashworth passed away Saturday, March 24, 2007 at the age of 97. She was born in Quincy township in Adams County to Joseph Emmet and Emma Marsh on 1 August 1909. She was the eldest daughter and second eldest of six children (brothersGilbert, William, and sistersGladys, Bertha, and Carol). She lived in Quincy with the family until the early 1920s when the family moved into the city of Adams to operate the Railroad Eating House, known as "The Beanery". Mildreds mother Emma passed away in 1926 leaving her with the responsibility of the family while her father served as Mayor of Adams and the County Welfare Director. Her dedication and love of family kept her close to home while she nutured her brothers and sisters and aided their careers. Mildred married Theodore Roosevelt Ashworth in 1933 and moved to Dellwood for a short time and then to Friendship where she resided throughout her life. Mildred has been a pillar in the Community for years and involved in the Friendship Congregational Church, Order of the Eastern Star, Adams County Memorial Hospital, and numerous Community Service functions including being the first Honorary Chair of the Adams Co. Relay for Life. Mildred and Theodore had three children: John Hancock Ashworth (spouse Nadine), who resides in Friendship; Lucille Ann (Ashworth) Davis (spouse Harry), who resides in Adams, and Jeanne Mae (Ashworth) Wasko, (spouse Robert Fitzsimons) who lives in Dielheim, Germany. She is blessed with 30 grandchildren (including spouses), 14 great-grandsons, 11 great-granddaughters, 2 great-great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Ida Ashworth who lives in Friendship, further survived by many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2007 at the Friendship Congregational Bible Church in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Richard Church will officiate. Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.
Visitation will be Monday, March 26th from 3 to 7 p.m. at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, WI. an Eastern Star service will be held at 6:45 p.m.
