A funeral service will take place at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin, with Pastor Sam Downey officiating. Family and friends are welcome to gather for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Norene will be laid to rest at Hancock Cemetery in Hancock, Wisconsin.
Born on April 28, 1943, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, to Dairel and Gertrude (Mattox) Droste, Norene graduated from Cudahy Senior High School in 1961. She married the love of her life, William G. Ahlborn Sr., on November 9, 1963, in Cudahy, Wisconsin. Together, they were blessed with three children: Charlene, William, and Randall. Norene ensured her children were raised with strong Christian values and cherished their time together as a family.
Norene’s career included roles as a talented floral arranger, a meticulous bookkeeper, and later a dedicated employee of Waste Management in Franklin, Wisconsin, where she eventually retired.
Norene found joy in life’s simple pleasures: creating beautiful floral arrangements, bird watching, canning, solving puzzles, playing cards, and visiting the casino. An avid fisherwoman, she was proud of her ability to reel in the best catches, often right from the pier. Above all, she loved spending time with her grandchildren and brought her family together with her warmth, laughter, and delicious home-cooked meals.
Norene was preceded in death by her parents, Dairel and Gertrude Droste; her beloved husband, William Ahlborn Sr.; and her sisters, Linda (Harland) Yonke, Elma (Mike) Leitenberger, and Muriel (Chuck) Ahlborn.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children: Charlene (Brett) Barthel, William Ahlborn Jr., and Randall (Debbie) Ahlborn; her grandchildren: Alyssa (Mike) Martin, Bradley (Kat) Barthel, Sydney (Eric) Anderson, Brice Ahlborn, Tyler (Alyssa) Ahlborn, Mike Kraft, and Paul Kraft; her brother, Ronald Droste; her sisters-in-law, Caroline Paul and Donna Ahlborn; and many extended family members and dear friends.
