Ray Walter Ferdon, 74, of Mauston, passed away September 1, 2017 at Fairview Nursing Home after a long courageous battle with cancer.

Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at Mauston Methodist Church, 420 Suszycki Drive, Mauston, Wisconsin. Pastor Anita Genrich will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, September 5th at the Church from 9 a.m. until the time of service.

Ray was the son of Edwin and Mabel(Walter) Ferdon and was born March 22, 1943. He attended Oak Hill Country School and graduated from New Lisbon High School in 1961. He received an Associate Degree in Auto Mechanics from WWTC in La Crosse. Ray married Joan Granger on January 19, 1963. They were married for 54 years. Ray worked for Eakins Motors in New Lisbon, Denicke Chevrolet in Mauston, A & L Auto parts in Mauston and retired from Big Joe Manufacturing in Wisconsin Dells in 2007 after 35 years.

He played the organ for the First Baptist Church in Mauston for many years and was a member of the New Lisbon Methodist Church for 54 years. He was a 25-year veteran of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. Ray earned his private pilot license in 1998. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his keyboard, and spending time with his family and friends. He wintered ten years in Arizona.

Ray is survived by his wife, Joan; two daughters: Lori (Bill) Clark and Tami (BJ) Keating; four grandsons: Jeffrey and Matthew Keating (Micaela Mullenberg), Dustin and Andrew Clark; an honorary granddaughter, Melissia Holt, Meagan Holt; sister, Carol Cooper; brother-in-law, Roy (Jill) Granger; and sisters-in-law: Janet Granger and Betty Granger and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Mabel Ferdon; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Alvin and Ella Granger; and brothers-in-law: Robert Granger and John Cooper.

A special thank you to Dr. Leon Radant for years of care and the staff at Fairview Nursing Home for their excellent care.
