Richard A. Westra, age 77, of Arkdale, Wisconsin passed away Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Private family services will be on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Interment will be at the Dellwood Cemetery.
Richard was born September 11, 1938 in Kenosha, Wisconsin to Sam and Alida Westra.
He served with the 32nd Division during the Berlin Crisis.
Richard married Edith M. Gutgesell on January 4, 1958 in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin.
He worked in road construction and for Metalfab, Inc. for many years.
Richard liked to hunt, fish & garden and could fix just about anything.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arkdale.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Sam & Alida Westra; daughter, Vickie (Jim) Bozeman; brothers, Henry Westra & John (Nelda) Westra; sisters, Dina (Paul) Jesperson, Clara Wiersma & Josephine (Ray) Sikorski.
Survivors:
Wife: Edith Westra of Arkdale, Wisconsin
Grandson: James Bozeman of Irvine, California
Granddaughter: Ashley Bozeman of Milwaukee, Wisconsin
Brother: Willard (Jean) Westra of Kenosha, Wisconsin
Brother-in-law: Robert Wiersma of Florida
Further survived by many nieces & nephews
Sad to hear the passing of one of the greatest men I ever knew. Sure he taught me a lot about fishing and hunting, but he taught me much more about family and life. For that I will forever be indebted.

Sorry to hear about Rich’s passing. When John and Nelda were married, I was the Junior bridesmaid and Rich was the groomsman. A pleasant memory. I remember your visits to Mauston with John & Nelda – such good times.
