Richard Elliot McGuire, age 91, of Arkdale, Wisconsin died Friday, September 12, 2014 at his residence.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, October 17, 2014 at St. Marks Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, Wisconsin at 11 AM. Friends may call after 10 AM at the church until time of services. Interment with Military Honors will be at the Highland Memorial Park, New Berlin, Wisconsin.
Richard was born September 8, 1923 in Rock Port, Missouri to Jess McGuire and Nora Bell Grabel. He married Janice M. Olson on June 27, 1955 in MN.
Richard enjoyed model ship building, HO gage model railroading, traveling, drawing, woodworking, writing books. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed his relationships with family and friends.
Richard served in WWII in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the American Legion Post #250. Richard was a published author.
He is survived by his loving devoted wife: Janice McGuire of Arkdale, Wisconsin; his children: Bonnie (Gary) Wandel of Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, Dannie (Mary) McGuire of Shawano, Wisconsin, Cathie Anich of Phoenix, Arizona and Shaun (Kristie) McGuire of Bozeman, Montana; his grandchildren: Kimmy McGuire, Ryan McGuire, Zachery (Phavika) Howard, Ashley Howard, David Howard, Jason McGuire, Meredith McGuire, Carissa Anich, Maranda Anich, Tristan Mehmke, and Lily Mehmke; his great-grandchildren: Savannah Rohda, Hunter Rohda, Nathaniel McGuire, Riannon McGuire, and Ava Fassbender.
Richard was preceded in death by: his parents, and his son-in-law, Mark Anich.
We were sorry to hear of Richard’s passing. We always enjoyed talking to him on Monday night at Rank’s. Ray enjoyed reading his book Bell Bottom Trousers as well.
