Richard Hainstock

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Richard Noah Hainstock, who died on July 12, 2025, at the age of 92. Richard was born on September 19, 1932. A lifelong farmer, Richard was a man of many talents and interests. In addition to working the land, he was employed at the Baraboo Army Ammunition Plant and the Wonewoc Feed Mill. After retiring from farming, he kept busy as a KFC driver and as a caretaker for the Anne Elizabeth Reese Home, where he also delivered Shopper Stoppers.

Richard was a devoted family man. He was married to the love of his life, Irene (Mortimer), for 68 years until her passing. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, James and Winnie (Mortimer) Hainstock, his brothers Edgar and Dean, and his children Rhonda and Shawn. He was also preceded in death by his grandson, Tracy. His memory will be cherished by his children: Roger (Vonda), Sue (Roger) George, Scott (Chris), Melody Rehr, Todd (Pam), and Michael (Dorothy). He is also survived by Shawn's spouse, Priscilla. Richard was a proud grandfather to 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind his sister, Caroline (Lewis) Pfaff, and seven nieces and nephews.

Richard had a passion for life and found joy in a wide array of hobbies. He loved gardening and was especially proud of his melons. He spent countless hours hunting mushrooms and ginseng and was an avid reader of Louis L'Amour books. He was a true sports enthusiast, from high school on, enjoying everything from baseball, softball, football, basketball, and bowling to horseshoes, golf, darts, hunting, and fishing, with a special love for salmon fishing. He also loved playing cards.

Richard's life was a testament to hard work and a deep appreciation for the simple joys. He will be remembered fondly by all who knew him.

Celebration of Life will be Saturday, August 2.

Funeral 11:00 a.m.
