Yesterday we attended Rodney’s funeral and memorial gathering. It was a true testiment of who Rodney was to see all the loving family, friends and coworkers who attended.
Growing up with Rodney as an older cousin was a true blessing for me. From family gatherings where we would play as children to the later gatherings when we could sit and watch our children play together. When I remember the fondest moments of my childhood, Rodney is usually somewhere in them. Hunting, camping, fishing, Babcock family gatherings, you could count on Rodney to be there. I will always remember his blue eyes and expression when you spoke to him. He truley listened and empathized with whoever was talking to him. I will also remember the quirky outburst laugh that would come out when he heard something funny. Rodney didn’t always seek to be the center of attention, but his natural charisma always made sure he was there.
Rodney will surely be missed, but our memories of laughter, love, family and friendship will never die.

Rodney, it doesn’t seem life can go on without you. We will be here for the boys and Debbie as long as we can. We miss you so much and love you with all our hearts
Laughter……..That is my thought every time I see Rodney or hear his name. I’ve known him since I was 10 years old. What never changed was his kindness and acceptence of anyone and he could make you laugh until your sides hurt. I remember often his humbleness and empathy, I don’t think he ever put himself to be better than anyone, or that he ever fully knew how much anyone who ever knew him respected him and saw him as a sincere, upstanding guy. Driving school bus I often would see him in passing and would always be greeted with a big hand wave and a smile. I will always think of him and miss those "hello’s’ whenever I see a county highway truck. He knew how to have fun and enjoy the important things in life – being with family and friends, which he has so many of. He is the definition of "in LOVING memory". May God comfort everyones hearts with the same warmth that Rodney was gifted to share with us. Thanks for memories Rodney… Make the angels laugh!
