Roger Ronald Marti

Roger Ronald Marti, age 56, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, June 27, 2019, following a brief but fierce battle with cancer.

Memorial services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. Dr. Kevin Tarvid will officiate. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday and also on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Roger was born as the youngest of Russell and Sophia (Moshure) Marti’s children on July 16, 1962, in Stevens Point, WI. He was raised in Dellwood and graduated from Adams-Friendship high school. He loved Adams County and spent his life making friends and memories with people in the area. He served as a member of the city of Adams council and even as the acting mayor for a period of time. He cared deeply about serving his community.

In 1987 he met and married the love of his life, Lorraine (Lori) Monroe. He told his father before they went on their first date that she was the woman he would spend his life with. They were married for 32 years and had two daughters, Rachel & Reba. He was an excellent father who was always there to support his girls whether it was getting up at 5am on a Saturday to go watch their dance team competitions or teaching them his own way of solving math problems. Throughout Rachel and Reba’s life, he never missed an event and was always there when they needed him. Roger took extreme pride in his two granddaughters, Sophie & Hazel. He was happiest when they were by his side.

Roger built his 35-year career in the woods. If you asked him what did for a living he would say he was “a lumberjack”. He held many positions, but his favorite was running a wood processor. He traveled around Wisconsin for job sites and probably has a friend in every community.

Roger truly lived his life to the fullest. He sang in a band a few times throughout his life and when he wasn’t singing he loved watching live music. He loved his motorcycles and riding around with Lori on the back taking the scenic route was his favorite. He spent many days fishing with his brothers and friends, he always knew the best spots. Most importantly, Roger was one of the friendliest people you could ever meet. His smile and sense of humor will live forever in our hearts.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Roger are his parents Russell & Sophia and father & mother-in-law, Hubert & Belva Monroe.

Loved ones that will miss Roger until they meet again are his wife Lorraine Marti; his daughters, Rachel (Igor Schmidt) Marti and Reba (Tom Thayer) Marti; his granddaughters, Sophie & Hazel; his brothers Robert (Teresa) Marti, and Russell “Rusty” (Cheryl) Marti; his half-brother, Fred (Amy) Masheimer, and his half-sister, Barbara (Lloyd) Rasmussen. He is further survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Getting in line for fresh, homemade apple pie, Wisconsin cheese and ice cream and Roger turned around to the rest sitting at the table and said, “Who CAN’T have apple pie?” I hope Roger is enjoying apple pie and everything else, now, in Heaven, with my husband too, Precious memories for now, waiting for the glorious day when everyone is together again. We couldn’t wait for the snowdrifts to form around the barn so we could jump from the haymow. I learned many important lessons from Roger, not the least of which is to make sure the rope will hold your weight before you swing from the tree fort.
Roger was the embodiment of two words: Passion and Compassion. He lived his life with an extreme passion for EVERYTHING that he did and was as compassionate towards EVERYONE that he met.
I’ll see you soon enough my friend.

    1 Thessalonians 4:13-18
13 Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. 14 For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him. 15 According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever. 18 Therefore encourage one another with these words.
