Violet Dorothy Burgdorff, age 95, of Adams, Wisconsin died quietly Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at her home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2011 at the Roseberrys Funeral Home. Rev. Milton Duntley will officiate. Interment, which will be private, will follow at the New Chester Cemetery.
Violet was born March 14, 1915 in Barron, Wisconsin to Alfred and Sarah Jane (Gallagher) Falkner. She moved to her brother Earls home in Wisconsin Rapids after the death of her father in 1926, and later graduated from high school and attended nursing school in Racine.
She married James Andrew Burgdorff Sr. on April 17, 1938 in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin and lived in Adams before moving to Beloit where Jim worked for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. The family returned to Adams in 1961. She taught Sunday School at the Congregational Church in Adams, sewing class for the local 4-H club, and was a member of Wisconsin Easter Seals Society. Violet worked at Adams County Memorial Hospital for many years, and also enjoyed her association with the local Homemakers Club, once serving as chairman of their holiday fair.
Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Sarah Falkner; husband, James Burgdorff; brother, Wesley (Augusta); brother, Frank (Opal); sister, Nettie (Ernest); sister, Lottie (Ralph); brother, Ted (Laura);
brother, Earl (Lillian); brother, George (Hazel); sister, Tillie (Harold); sister, Irene (Basil); and sister, Eadie (Jack).
Survivors:
Daughter: Josephine Ann Burgdorff of Sun Prairie, Wisconsin
Daughter: Mary Catherine Burgdorff of Adams, Wisconsin
Son: James Burgdorff of Minneapolis, Minnesota
