Wilfred “Willie” Charles Hammond, age 78, of Adams, Wisconsin died Sunday, November 10, 2013 at the Moundview Memorial Hospital & Clinics in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Memorial services will be 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Friends may call at Roseberry’s on Thursday from 4 p.m. to the time of service. Military honors will be presented by the Adams County Honor Guard.

Interment will be at the Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin.

Willie was born November 9, 1935 in Easton, Wisconsin to Kermit Theodore and Alma Mary (Reuterskiold) Hammond. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1953. Willie served in the Army from 1957 to 1959. Willie married Georgiana Margaret Cekan on June 11, 1959 in Adams, Wisconsin. He worked as the head mechanic for Adams-Friendship School District retiring in 2001 after 38 years of service. Willie then worked for the Adams County Sheriff’s Department as a transport officer until now.

Willie enjoyed building hotrods, riding Harley Davidson motorcycles, he also built and raced three stock cars and won many races at A-F Motor Speedway.

Willie was preceded in death by his parents, Kermit “Casey” and Alma Hammond; wife, Georgiana Hammond; brothers: Vernon K. and Kenneth O. Hammond; sister, Kay F. Theisen; nephew, Triston Stemper; brother-in-law, Richard Cekan; Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, George and Marge Cekan.

Sister: Myrna M. (Ron) Klaus of Reedsburg, Wisconsin
Sister: Linda G. (Larry) Stemper of Adams, Wisconsin
Sister-in-law: Lilah Hammond of Adams, Wisconsin
Sister-in-law: Mary Schmidt of Adams, Wisconsin
Sister-in-law: Norma Cekan of Friendship, Wisconsin
Sister-in-law: Cheri Fuller of Middleton, Wisconsin
Further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

    darin and family. willie was a great guy he and i aways had a good laugh whenever i would call him to go on a transport. we always used the “secret code” 3628. he was mad at the phone company when his # changed. i really enjoyed visiting with him and he would always stop by peg when he was at mvmh just to make sure i was taking good care of her. his racing days stories were great and he always had a good story. he will be missed by many. long live the memories of willie
