Joyce Travis

TRAVIS213_webJoyce Elizabeth Travis, age 76, of Hancock, Wisconsin died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at her home following a year long battle with cancer.

No services are planned per Joyce’s wishes.

Joyce was born July 2, 1936 in Adams County, Wisconsin to Joseph and Emma (Nobles) Petruska. She graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1953 and later from St. Point Teacher’s College. Joyce taught school for two years before going back to school at Mt. Sinai Hospital for 3 years for nursing. She worked as a nurse Wood Hospital in Milwaukee briefly before marrying Howard W. Travis on November 16, 1963 in Adams, Wisconsin. Joyce then worked at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids for 28 years, retiring in 1998.

Joyce enjoyed hunting and fishing out west with her husband.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Emma Petruska; and her brother, Tom Petruska.

Daughter: Tammy Travis of Hancock, Wisconsin
Brother: Joseph (June) Petruska of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin
Sister: Jeanette (Robert) Cole of Friendship, Wisconsin
Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

    Howard and Family, So sorry to hear about Joyce,my condolences to the whole family, we were in high school together and a lot of times her parents would stop at my folks and take me along to Bohemian hall to a dance if my folks were not going.She is with God now and I know her suffering is over, it is so hard to let them go but you really don’t want them to suffer either but try to remember the happy times .May God keep all of you in his prayers and help you through this.
