Kathleen June Cappel, age 70 of Arkdale joined the love of her life Jon Cappel in the arms of her lord on September 22, 2021. Kathy was born in DeKalb, Illinois on December 11th, 1950, to Edwin and Audrey (Roberts) Reichhoff. She graduated from Westfield High School in 1969 and married Jon Cappel on September 30th 1972. Jon preceded Kathy in death on January 21st, 2014.
Kathy was a longtime resident of Arkdale and member of Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the church and gave her time by counting money for the church, bible study, Church Council, Worship Committee, prayer chain, Stiches & Purls, along with Dorcus Circle and TLCW. She worked in the Deli at IGA in Adams, and then went to work for the Adams-Friendship School district for many years, starting in the Kitchen and then moving to help with the LINC (Learning in New Channels) program as a Paraprofessional until she was able to retire and spend more time traveling with her husband.
Kathy enjoyed reading, studying the bible, watching and photographing wildlife, bowling, and knitting. She also enjoyed traveling on many adventures with her husband Jon, family Mike, Kari, Troy, and Ryan along with her friends, and her many brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Kari (Mike) Banovec, grandchildren Troy and Ryan Banovec, her three sisters Susan (Sheldon) Lloyd, Debby (Robin) Johnson and Ruth (Kevin) Cortleyou, her three brothers Roger Reichhoff, David (Karlene) Reichhoff, and Greg (Laura Selje) Reichhoff. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Doloris, Wynette, and former sister-in-law Kelly Reichhoff, Aunt Dorothy (Hans) Menck, as well as special cousins Linda Bauer and Ginger Swiercz. Kathy is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers: Lee and Boyce, and sister-in-law Roxy Reichhoff.
Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Arkdale Trinity Lutheran Church. Pastor Terri Skildum will officiate. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at the church.

Kari and family, I’m so very sorry to learn of your mother’s passing. I so enjoyed her and your dad’s pictures that they would post of all the wildlife that they saw and the trips that they went on. I especially enjoyed all the photos of her Grandsons and Granddogs. I pray that you find comfort in all the wonderful and loving memories, RIP Kathy.

Dear Kari and Family, It is difficult for me to believe Kathy is no longer with us. On Tuesday, Sept.21st, I spent 4 hours with her. From 3:00 to 5:30 PM we were in a class together. We then raced each other to get to Bible Study at 6:00 PM. We parted at 7:30 PM with a “See ya’ next week!” The next day I learned Kathy had left this earth. She was a strong “Believer in God”, a wonderful lady and friend to many. She loved all of you, her large family, and often proudly spoke about you. Love and Blessings, Margaret de Pereiro

Kari and Family – I only knew your Mom Kathy because your Dad was my neighbor many years ago in Arkdale. I kept in contact with your Dad and Mom by email for quite a few years. I used to love seeing all the wonderful pictures they would take. She is now back with Jon and so many other relatives that passed before her. My deepest sympathies to all of you.
