Larry Swanson

Larry Swanson, age 84, of Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin, died Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at Atrium Post Acute Care of Wisconsin Rapids following many months of excellent care provided by the Atrium and Heartland Hospice Staff.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 19, 2019 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Rev. John K. Stake will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Repose Cemetery, Friendship, Wisconsin. Visitation will be 1:00 p.m. until the time of service on Sunday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Larry was born April 26, 1935 in Cobb, Wisconsin. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1954. Larry served in the Army in the Tank Corps during the Korean War. Larry married Dorothy A. Sipla on August 8, 1959 in Adams, Wisconsin. He worked for Oscar J. Boldt Co as a journeyman millwright, project supervisor, and retired as a project manager in 1997.

In his life, Larry enjoyed hunting, fishing, art and creating, listening to classical music, family outings, spending time with friends, watching classic movies and of course, the Packers. He was a talented craftsman and handyman, who always had time to assist his family and friends with projects.

Larry was a member of Adams Masonic Lodge, did volunteer work for the Shriners, and assisted veterans at the Tomah Veteran’s Hospital.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, George and Thelma Swanson; and sister, Judy Holmes.

Son: Kyle (Emily Nolan) Swanson
Brother: Brooke (Mary) Swanson
Five grandchildren: Erica and Alexa Swanson; Bryan and Joshua Gulrud, Megan Gulrud Tetzloff and one great-granddaughter: Maia Jane Tetzloff
Further survived by brother, Harvey Holmes and extended family.
