Melvin R. Hanson
Melvin R. Hanson, age 82, of Big Flats, WI passed away Friday, April 2, 2021 at his home.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Big Flats Town Hall, 1104 County Road C, Arkdale, WI 54613.
Melvin was born February 12, 1939, in Hancock, Wisconsin to Lloyd and Myrtle (Ostrander) Hanson. Melvin attended Adams-Friendship High School, and then married his wife of 60 years Delores Marie Streeter on February 11, 1961, in Nekoosa, WI. They were blessed with four daughters: Debra (Phil) Kinney, Terry (Pete) Hams, Kathy (Dave) Keach, and Tammy (Chad) Hanson-Schenk. Melvin worked at Preway Inc. in WI Rapids until its closure, then he worked at Nelson Muffler Wautoma until his retirement.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Lloyd Jr., sister-in-law Carol Hanson, sister-in-law Doris Hanson, and infant grandson Jason Baggs.
Survivors include his wife, his four daughters, brothers: Merl Hanson, Floyd (Marsha) Hanson; grandchildren: Jenny (Jeff) Baggs, Jaime Baggs, Jodi (Jake) Linzmeier, Randy (Sarah) Malthe, Ashley Straight, Nick (Sharla) Rogers, Eric (Ashley) Fuller, and Cody Ferkey; many great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

My deepest condolences on the loss of the most humble, decent and giving uncle. Words could never do justice to the kind of person Uncle Melvin was to us as a family. After the passing of my own father I viewed Uncle Melvin as a fatherly mentor and he was like that to his nephews. He gave freely of his own time at his expense. Delores I am so sorry for the lost of your loving husband of 60 years it seems like yesterday I was honored to be in yours and his wedding I know its going to be hard for you and all of us. He was a great uncle husband father grandpa friend I’m going to miss him so much he and you and the kids will always my thoughts and prayers. Delores just take your time it not going to be easy. But prying it gets better for you and the kids. Love you guys try to take care. If you ever need advice don’t be afraid to ask don’t forget I STill LOVE YOU AND THE KIDS
