Nancy Elouise Linda

Nancy Elouise Linda

Nancy Elouise Linda, age 86, of Adams, Wisconsin passed away Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Villa Pines Living Center in Friendship, Wisconsin following a long battle with heart failure.

A Celebration of Life will be held from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 at the Moundview Golf Course in Friendship, Wisconsin.

Nancy was born June 20, 1937 in Waukesha, Wisconsin to Fredric and Elsa (Wallber) Grover. She grew up in Heartland and graduated from Heartland High School in 1955. She worked for General Motors in Oak Creek, WI. Nancy married Roger Linda on November 6, 1959 in Waukegan, IL. The family settled in New Berlin and raised their family there before moving to Adams, WI in 1985. Nancy worked for the Adams-Friendship Times Reporter for many years.

Being married for 64 years, Roger and Nancy were the definition of faith, hope, love and family through sickness, health, laughter, and tears, their primary focus remained on each other and the life they had built together.

Nancy was a voracious reader and loved to share her books with her friends. She also enjoyed crocheting, making baby blankets and slippers, taking care of her plants and flowers, cooking for her family, and sending cards to people to let them know she was thinking of them.

Nancy was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the Parish Council of Catholic Women.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents: Fredric and Elsa (Wallber) Grover; brothers: Fred (Joan) Grover and Ed Grover; and best friend of 75 years, Sue Troemel.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Roger Linda of Adams, WI; four daughters: Peggy (Gayle) Hansen of Waterloo, WI; Karen (Gib Schlough) Voth of Fall River, WI; Susan (Tom) Heft of Oshkosh, WI; Rhonda (Al) Armson of Baraboo, WI; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and her bonus daughter, Donna Schell of Oconto, WI. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many good friends.

Her family would like to thank nurse Bob and his crew at Gunderson Memorial Hospital and the Staff at Villa Pines Living Center for providing Nancy the kindness, respect and dignity that she deserved.

When tomorrow starts without me, please try to understand, That an angel came and called my name, and took me by the hand; The angel said my place was ready, In Heaven far above, And that I’d have to leave behind all those I dearly love. But when I walked through Heaven’s Gates, I felt so much at home, for God looked down, smiled at me, and told me “Welcome Home.” So when tomorrow starts with me, don’t think we’re far apart, for every time you think of me, I’m right there in your heart.

  6. Christi Jurgerson says:

I have been friends with all the girls from the time they moved to Columbus, and a lot of time spent with the family both at the old farm house, and the new one built after the fire. Nancy had a great sense of humor, lots of good laughs and smiles. She was the best cookie maker, and had the patients to let us girl give a helping hand at Xmas time. I am sending big hugs to the whole family, and an extra big one to you Roger. My heart is full of love for you all. May God help you all find those special memories that fill your heart and help you find a way to smile again. Your mom was a gem, and will be truly missed but never forgotten.

  7. Jennifer Armstrong says:

I’m sorry for your loss. She was a wonderful woman and I’m glad I got to meet her and take care of her for what little time I did. I grew very fond of her in that short amount of time. I don’t think I was her “angel” I think she was mine. She told me “anytime you come down here stop and say hi to me”, and that’s exactly what I did until the morning I walked in and saw that she went to heaven. When they told me they had been together for 67 years I was stunned. That is what real love is. You fix what is broken and don’t just throw it away. I will miss seeing her and taking care of that precious angel that she was. Remember all of the good times. I will with what little time I had with her at Villa Pines.

  8. Megan Zander-Conboy says:

Sending love and condolences to Roger and family. I grew up having Nancy as an amazing neighbor and almost “bonus grandma” in Rabl’s Pinequilizer, living there again as an adult she has always treated my girls the same. She will be dearly missed and thought about often. So sorry for your loss.

  9. Norm Rabl says:

Our family has been dear friends for nearly 60 years, Nancy has been a dedicated and loving wife to Roger and mother to their 4 children. Peggy, Karen, Susan, and Rhonda. Nancy has been by Roger’s side through many challenges and ventures during her lifetime. Nancys family restaurant in Columbus found her working welcoming her guest for years; then their rural Columbus home was destroyed by fire, after leaving Columbus they moved to Adams and became residence of Pinequilizer Park.
When my wife Carol became ill, Nancy sent a card almost every week. Thank you, Nancy, Carol and Nancy will be together again, both Angels in Heaven. Roger being a great fisherman, Nancy spent many times home while Roger was catching those meals Nancy enjoyed eating. My condolences to you Roger with all our love, I do understand your time of grief, I am here for you anytime.
