Robert R. Marti

Robert R. Marti

Robert (Rubber) R. Marti, age 72, of Arkdale, Wisconsin passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2026.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 1,2026, at Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin. Interment will be at the Dellwood Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 1:00 until the time of service on Wednesday at Roseberry's Funeral Home.

He was born November 18, 1953, in Stevens Point, Wisconsin to Russell and Sophia (Moshure) Marti. He was a lifelong resident of the Dellwood/Arkdale area and proud to call it home. As one of the legendary "Dellwood Boys," Rubber and his brothers, Russell ("Rusty") and Roger, spent their childhood outdoors helping their dad with the family business, riding motorcycles, fixing up cars, and, if you ask anyone who knew them, getting into just enough mischief to keep life interesting. He graduated from Adams-Friendship High School in 1971 and spent the rest of his life doing what he did best: building, fixing, and figuring things out. Whether he was working on the railroad, building/remodeling homes, or rescuing something from the dump that everyone else had given up on, Rubber had an incredible talent for seeing potential where others didn't. There truly wasn't anything he couldn't fix. He retired from the Wisconsin Carpenter’s Union at age 55. 4th of July weekend in 1989, he met the love of his life, Teresa Monroe. After following her to Arizona, the two built a life together before marrying on May 20 th , 1991. Eventually, they made their way back home to Wisconsin, where they spent 35 happy years together. Rubber became an incredible father to Teresa's children, Joe and Jessica, and an even more devoted grandpa to Mason and Madeline, who brought him endless joy.

Rubber had a gift for connecting with kids. He loved making them laugh, teaching them new things, and sharing his favorite parts of life. His grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and neighborhood kids alike all have memories of Rubber patiently showing them how to fish, hunt, trap, shoot guns, fix something with their hands, or simply appreciate the outdoors. He always seemed to know the best "secret" fishing spots, never passed up an opportunity for a Corvette or motorcycle ride, and somehow made every adventure more fun with a steady stream of jokes. One of his greatest pranks was secretly burying arrowheads in the sandbox at the Arkdale park just so the kids could experience the excitement of discovering them. Rubber had a lifelong love for the outdoors and the animals that called it home. Hunting and fishing trips with his brothers and friends produced enough stories to last several lifetimes. He took great pride in his collection of taxidermy, seeing the beauty in each animal long after its time on earth. He was a proud member of the North American Shed Hunters Club and an official scorer. As the years passed, that appreciation grew even gentler. Rubber and Teresa opened their home to countless stray cats that wandered onto their property, and it became a common sight to find him asleep in his recliner with at least one cat curled up on his lap. Anyone lucky enough to know Rubber knows there will never be another quite like him. Between his signature mustache, one-of-a-kind sense of style, and his trademark "G'damner,"

Rubber was impossible to forget. He had the kind of effortless cool that couldn't be imitated. While the rest of the world moved on to smartphones, Rubber stayed loyal to his flip phone, believing a phone call was still the best way to catch up. He loved his community and the people in it. Whether organizing family get-togethers, looking forward to his weekly pool games at the Corner Bar, celebrating Farkdale (Arkdale) Days, or simply welcoming friends into his garage to swap stories over a cold one, Rubber understood that the best memories were made together. He leaves behind a family and a community with countless stories to tell, fish to catch, an impressive stamp collection, things to fix, and jokes to repeat. His signature license plate “RUBBER” still hangs on the wall at the Hog’s Breath Saloon in Key West, FL. His legacy lives on in every friend he made laugh, and every person who learned from him that life is better when you don't take it too seriously. Until we meet again, Rubber… Keep on Chooglin'.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Robert are his brother Roger; parents Russell & Sophia; father & mother-in-law Hubert & Belva Monroe; brothers in law; Jim Monroe and David Monroe; sister in law Patsy Chavez; nephews Louis Premo and Daniel Monroe. Loved ones that will miss Robert until they meet again are his wife Teresa Marti; children Joe Klicko and Jessica (Jason) McBride; grandchildren Mason (Kyia Hesso) Westman, Madeline McBride; his brother Russell “Rusty” (Cheryl) Marti; his half-brother, Fred (Amy) Masheimer, and his half-sister, Barbara (Lloyd) Rasmussen. He is further survived by many in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

In lieu of flowers, Robert would like donations made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (https://www.stjude.org/) and the Disabled American Veterans (https://www.dav.org/).

The family would like send heartfelt thanks to the search and rescue efforts of multiple agencies.

    Dear Heavenly Father,
“Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” (John 15:13)
Our hearts are filled with sadness and yet also with incredible awe for Robert Mati who died trying to save an injured eagle.
We pray this hero is now sitting close to You, at peace, surrounded by Your golden light with Scout, Harmony and all the other heavenly eagles.
We are grateful to read his obituary. What a kind soul he was. He had a “lifelong love for the outdoors and the animals that called it home” and was “always rescuing something…that everyone else had given up on.” No wonder he went back when DNR wouldn’t come right away. Lord, please comfort his grieving family and let not his heroic actions be forgotten.
