Roddrick B. “Sluce” Lumby

scan_Lumby_webRoddrick B. “Sluce” Lumby, age 56, of Arkdale, Wisconsin passed away February 22, 2014 at House of the Dove in Marshfield, Wisconsin with Rose, Rick & Birdie and Dennis & Monica by his side.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 1, 2014 at the Roseberry’s Funeral Home in Friendship, Wisconsin.   Rev. John K. Stake will officiate.  Interment will be at the Gould Rock Cemetery, Town of New Chester, Adams County, Wisconsin.  Visitation will be 10:00 a.m.  until the time of service on Saturday at Roseberry’s Funeral Home.

Roddrick was born June 26, 1957 in Mauston, Wisconsin to Bertrum and Beverly (Alderman) Lumby.

He attended Adams-Friendship Area Schools and later was self-employed.

Roddrick was married for a short while to his wife Debbie and they had one daughter Becky.

He loved fishing, hunting and night time adventures with his coon hounds. He also enjoyed horseshoes, pool, darts, grilling out for family and friends, auctioneering and sitting around the campfire with neighbors.

Roddrick was a member of the Central Wisconsin Country Music Assc. & Mid-West Country Music Jamboree and the Jack Pine Snowmobile Club.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bertrum Lumby; mother, Beverly Alderman-Shuckhart; brother, William “Bill” Calvin and Grandparents, Bertrum & Helen Lumby and William & Nellie Alderman.

Brother:  Renwick Johnson of Madison, Wisconsin

Brother:  Robert “Ozzie” Johnson of, Texas

Brother:  Bertrum Lumby of Adams, Wisconsin

    Sluce was such a nice guy. I remember him here at our farm taking down an old structure and he went to see one of my horses. She decided to try to guide him along the fenceline by his shirt! He laughed so hard at that! Last time I saw Sluce he was out hunting wild asparagus across the street. I happened to be out cutting ours so
    I hailed him over and together we cut a couple of pounds for him….he was so delighted! He seemed to be a gentle soul and will surely be missed!
